Deuteronomy 6: 7-9 "And you shall teach them diligently unto your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way side and when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall bind them for sign upon you hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the posts of your house and on your gates."
Ok, so teach them what, well I have only posted the last part of this passage, because I believe it to be worth your time and effort to look up the 2 verses prior. As I have posted it, it reads incomplete, and you must know what it says prior to these passages, to get a full understanding. So often, we as Christians (those who claim to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior), only take a few passages of scripture to make it fit our "point that we are trying to get across." We have to take into account the entire passage that "circles" or encompasses what we are studying.
To all parents, allow this to help you realize that parenting is not just a couple of minutes or hours a day, it is for the rest of your life. These kids are given to you as a gift from the Lord and we are entrusted with raising them as the Creator has instructed. Kids will learn and there are people out there who will teach them! But, is it always safe and beneficial, as to what is being taught by others? This is a question that plagues all parents. We have to be apart of our kids lives daily, and we are commanded to "ground our kids" in God's Word, thus showing them how God expects them to behave, live, speak and enjoy life.
This is the part that makes parenting so tough.
