Are you numb?

Parents I really am asking you this question.  Let me explain--A couple of days ago, I was in the dinning room, (which is in the front of our house away from the living room--where we have the TV), working on a model airplane, and I was overhearing the TV.  The show that was being watched is one that tens of thousands of families watch each and every week on prime time TV.  This was a "rerun", but this time I was listening to it instead of watching it-- and I made a startling discovery.  This show was inundated with numerous amounts of sexually driven conversations.  In fact almost the entire show dealt with per-marital sex and promiscuity.  I had seen this episode many times before and not given it any thought, but now I could not believe my ears.  Maybe I was tuned into it better because I could only hear it and not see it or maybe God opened my "eyes" to something that apparently is prevalent in my life-- I am oblivious to some things that ought not be!  Or at the least, numb to what is happening right before me.

I realized that I was so busy in watching this comedy and what was happening in Hi-Def that I was missing the "blatant/obvious, sickening truth" right before my eyes.  These people were trying to actually get the "hook up" for that night.  Through their quirky characters and crazy situations that they were putting themselves into, I completely allowed my guard to be dropped and not realize the immoral acts that these people were trying to get themselves into.

Parents, I ask this question--Is this happening to you?  It is going to take some intentional and heartfelt evaluation, but check to see if you are letting your guard down.  You kids need you to keep your guard up, especially in the home.  TV is not the "bad thing" here, it is just an item.  What is bad is what we allow to come through our TV into our homes.  Computers, radios, cell phones, and tablets the same.  These are not bad items, but is what you are allowing to come through them helpful or attacking your morals?  Are this "items" a tool that that Satan is using to "wire" your kids and set in them a foundation for living?  "Dear Jesus, please help us to see any problems and may we follow your guidelines and not be numb to what this world shows us!"
